Blog Post #2

The main activity that people do at the Johnson Center is working out.  Most people when they go to the Johnson Center, workout by themselves.  They have many different machines you can use, that will help with cardiovascular, strength, and speed.  The cardiovascular machines consist of treadmills, stair steppers, ellipticals, bikes, and rowing machines.  The Johnson Center also have machines to help your upper body, lower body, and core muscles, along with plate, and free-weight weights.

If you don’t like working out by yourself, they also offer group workouts.  Most of these fitness classes are offered free to University of Kentucky students.  They offer classes like Zumba, cycling, yoga, cardio, core blast, and many other classes.  There is no sign up necessary for these classes.  You just have to show up.

Lastly, if you don’t want to be in a group but need help with coming up with exercises, you have the option of getting a personal trainer.   You can register online to get a personal trainer.  This does cost money but is only twenty dollars per session.   When you begin with your personal trainer, your first day will do an assessment and set some goals that you want to accomplish.  You can also have up to five people in your personal training group.

All of these ways are great to stay in shape will at college.  Working out is good for more than to just stay in shape.  It teaches you a good way of life and can also help academically.  For me, I use the Johnson Center as a stress reliever.  I always look forward to going here after a long day of classes, just to get my mind off of school for a while.
